The interview comes as Rebel looked slimmer than ever as she shared more pictures of her weight loss while advertising a new podcast appearance.
Dicussing her decision to take on roles such as Fat Amy in Pitch Perfect on the Life Uncut Podcast, Rebel said: 'Being bigger I was kind of the normal size, maybe more on the athletic side when I was a teenager...
'And then I had something called polycystic ovary syndrome [PCOS] and one of the side effects is that you can gain weight rapidly when you're 20/21.
'So obviously I knew I was a bigger girl so I was like you just got to embrace it so that's why I went into comedy acting because I knew how much power comedians can have, people are more likely to laugh at people they don't want to have sex with.'

Rebel explained that 'abnormalities' are often well regarded in comedians, as she explained: 'Comedians often have something physical about them that's abnormal.
'Those people tend to go better in comedy, so I turned what was turned into a lot of agents as a disadvantage into my advantage.'
Rebel said she chose to play Fat Amy because although she wasn't the lead character, she was the funniest role in the film.
She also said that even though she weighed 'three times more' than her co-stars, they all still celebrated each other.

Referencing the name of the acappella group, Rebel said: 'Bellas means beautiful; in Italian. I just loved being Fat Amy. And I just loved being that character, it is interesting how people get into comedy and stuff.
Rebel also revealed that she has also never struggle when it comes to styling, as she explained: 'It was never really an issue but I know a lot of women have struggled. A lot of girls who are normal size are told they're fat and shamed.'
The Bridesmaids actress said she had people around her who were 'not supportive', adding: 'Being bigger I didn't have any serious disease but I knew secretly my emotional eating was unhealthy.
'That is not healthy way to deal with emotions. I know deep down I can't keep doing that, like I can’t, I've got have a healthy option for my life.
'I'm travelling around the world having this amazing life, having a great career, just wanted to be in one Hollywood movie and now I've done 20.'
Discussing her decision to lose weight and get heathier in 2020, Rebel said: 'I'm turning 40 I knew I can be healthier... I'm gonna make the big change and lose the excess weight, I had a lot of push-back from that.'
Rebel detailed the changes in her life since dropping more than 70 pounds and explained that is has 'opened doors' for her into dramatic acting.

She said: 'On the whole pretty much everyone's been so supportive. Everyone's been so nice and everyone gives you compliments.
'It's opened up dramatic roles which I wasn't getting considered before, which is awesome so I can really use my acting muscle.
'I still think there was some statistic, leading ladies it's less than 1 per cent of plus size actresses, there is some movement in including different body types.'

In May, the Fat Pizza star candidly admitted to feeling 'sad' that she'd waited until the age of 40 to embrace a healthier lifestyle.
'Now that I know I can do it, sometimes I feel sad that I didn't do it earlier,' she told InStyle.
Admitting she's always been 'a bit of a late developer,' Rebel said she wished she 'tried when I was 30, not 40.'
'But everybody's journey is different, and it's not a race or competition.'
'I have a natural empathy for anyone who struggles with weight issues because that's something I've always struggled with.'
Rebel said that 'anyone can go on walks and drink more water and do little, consistent things that'll improve their lives,' - and it's never too late to start.
