Zendaya appeared to be in a euphoric mood as she ventured out on Tuesday, shortly after discovering her HBO series has broken a new viewing record. 

The actress takes a starring role as recovering addict Rue Bennett in American teen drama Euphoria, which returned to much fanfare with a second season on January 9th. 

Viewing figures for its first episode have so far surpassed 2.4million across HBO and HBO Max, making it the most watched show on the cable network's digital streaming service, Variety reports.

Making an appearance in Los Angeles, Zendaya, 25, was visibly pleased as she climbed into the front of a waiting car. 

Greeting onlookers with a broad smile, the actress looked relaxed in a floor-length winter coat and generously cut green trousers. 

She added to her look with a pair of Nike high-top trainers, while a protective face-covering partially concealed her instantly recognisable features.

Zendaya took to Instagram on Thursday to pay tribute to Ronnie Spector following the singer's death at 78, and said she hopes to make her 'proud' by playing her in a forthcoming biopic.

The actress, who is slated to portray The Ronettes lead singer in a film about her life, shared an image of Spector and a selfie she had taken with the singer, who died of cancer last Wednesday.

Captioning the post, she wrote: 'To speak about her as if she's not with us feels strange as she is so incredibly full of life. There's not a time I saw her without her iconic red lips and full teased hair, a true rockstar through and through.'

'There is absolutely nothing that could dim the light you cast. I admire you so much and am so grateful for the bond we share.'
