Grace Kelly's granddaughter Charlotte Casiraghi of Monaco wowed Paris Fashion Week attendees today as she rode her horse around the Chanel runway.

This morning's show opened with Charlotte, 35, accomplished equestrian and one of Chanel's most recent ambassadors, cantering down the catwalk on a horse while resplendent in Chanel black tweed.

Among the A-listers who were watching the royal bound down the runway were Anna Wintour and Pharrell Williams.

Charlotte is the second child of Princess Caroline of Hanover and the late Italian businessman Stefano Casiraghi, who died in 1990.

The equestrian, who was elegant in a full black outfit for the occasion, held her head high as she rode across the runway.

She swept her locks into a ponytail for the event, donning a black helmet a-top her head,  and wore a dramatic smokey eye.

Charlotte has previously spoken of her love for riding, telling Harper's Bazaar in 2013 that horses had played an 'important role' in her life since she was a child.

She explained: 'They gave me the energy to move forward, the ability to fight, giving me a rare confidence and invaluable strength. They taught me great humility too.'

She continued: 'Competing in show jumping is a school of life…. And it's one of the few Olympic sports where men and women are equal.

'Being a great horseman does not rely on physical strength but more on the mind and sensibility.'

The royal is eleventh in line to the Monegasque throne. Her grandmother was Princess Grace of Monaco and her uncle, Prince Albert II, is the current monarch.

Charlotte, has a seven-year-old son, Raphaël, with Moroccan-French stand-up comedian Gad Elmaleh, whom she dated from 2011 to 2015. She went on to date Italian filmmaker Lamberto Sanfelice, before splitting in 2016.

The royal wore a glittering black Chanel jacket for the appearance, as well as black jodphurs and matching riding boots

Shortly afterwards she met fiance Dimitri Rassam, a 39-year-old French film producer. Rumours of a relationship first started swirling in early 2017.

Dimitri is the son of actress Carole Bouquet, a friend of Charlotte's mother, Princess Caroline of Hanover, and French Jean-Pierre Rassam, a French Lebanese film producer.

Jean-Pierre died from a drug overdose when Dimitri was just four years old.

Dimitri has a daughter with his ex-wife, Russian model Masha Novoselova, whom he divorced in 2016.

During the show, Charlotte rode past celebrities and fashion royalty including Vogue editor Anna Wintour (pictured)

According to reports in Hola!, Dimitri and Charlotte first met in Paris before spending time together in her country residence in Barbizon, an hour outside the French capital.

The couple choose to keep a low-profile, although they did both attend the civil marriage ceremony of Charlotte's step-brother, Prince Christian of Hanover, and his wife, Alessandra de Osma, in London in November 2017.

News of Charlotte and Dimitri's engagement was first reported by Hola! in March 2018. The couple made their formal debut at the Rose Ball in Monte Carlo that same month.

Charlotte previously told Vogue she doesn't consider herself a 'princess', saying: 'My mother is, not me. I am the niece of a head of state.

'And with this status, I have some representational duties, nothing very constraining or very exceptional.'

The Chanel show is one of 16 live runways taking place during the week, up from eight runway shows last season with COVID severely limiting which fashion houses could stage a public event.

Another seven houses will stage physical and video presentations for editors and clients this year; and a further six will be purely digital displays.
